We’re at the last (for now) Star Wars movie!
I know, I know, the saga ended up NOT ending at ROTJ, but no one knew that when this game was made. As we enter the cantina’s final lounge area, you’ll notice that the doors look like they came from the second Death Star.

(And yes, of course I switched to Han because Han.)
The opening cutscene shows Vader arriving at the second Death Star and noticing that the workers are slacking (if you look carefully you’ll notice that the officer Vader scolds starts crying as Vader leaves), then 3PO and R2 arrive at Jabba’s palace (I LOVE how they keep in how R2 starts rolling in the instant the door starts opening!). You won’t be playing as the droids, though – instead you start the level as Leia and Chewie.

You know the drill by now – collect studs, shoot stuff for more studs. Also, try not to fall off the cliffs, but you can still admire the view.

When you’re ready to go inside, build a stool to get up to the higher studs, but that will cause guns to emerge from the door and start shooting at you (of course). You’ve gotta shoot the guns several times to destroy them, but eventually the door will open and you can enjoy how nicely the inside of the palace is rendered.

Of course, Gamorrian guards will immediately come after you. Since they only attack with axes, they’re not much of a threat individually, but they keep coming. If you don’t want an infinite swarm coming after you, you’d better pull the levers to block the chutes they come out of.
There’s also a way to temporarily distract the Gamorrians. Use the pile of bricks to build a radio.

The radio will start playing a jammin’ rendition of the Imperial March that gets the Gamorrians rockin’ so hard that they’ll even play air guitar with their axes.

HA, I love this game’s sense of humor. Anyway, you’ll notice that only bounty hunters can get through the big door, but Leia didn’t disguise herself for nothin’. Off to the side is a disguise lever that gives her the mask she needs to complete her ensemble.

Head up the stairs to the next room, where you’ll run into Luke in full Jedi garb complete with green lightsaber.

After taking care of the enemies, use the bricks to assemble a box and push the box onto a switch to make an ascension gun target appear. That way you can get up the steps to get some studs and . . . THE POWER BRICK!

Luke can also use the Force to get in this . . . thingy which is full of blue studs.

If Leia lost her bounty hunter mask, go back to the disguise lever to get a new one and open the door to the next room, which has a lot of jail cells.

Unfortunately, you can’t access most of them until Free Play Mode, but you can assemble a platform. Stand on it and Luke will use the Force to levitate you up for studs and to get you into a cell where you can pull the levers to expose the main door to you.

Now, remember those shiny metal things we’ve been running into throughout the game? The things that can’t even be destroyed with lightsabers? Well now we’ve got a huge pile of them blocking our way, but if Leia’s got her bounty hunter mask on, she can throw a thermal detonator to get rid of them.

However, you’ve gotta be careful to run away after planting a thermal detonator or else it will blow you up too. Anyway, in the next room you’ll notice a minikit that SEEMS inaccessible.

But never fear – just use the nearby bricks to build an explosive and shoot it until it goes BOOM, opening part of the wall to get the minikit!
By the way, did I mention that you can ride on these spider droid things that follow you around?

It doesn’t do anything to help your gameplay, but it looks pretty funny. Anyway, in the next room you’ll find that 3PO and R2 are being held captive!

Or does it count as being held captive when Luke actually gave them to Jabba? Course, Jabba took them without giving Han back, so the deal probably isn’t valid. Anyway, to rescue them we’ve got to pull some levers and do some building to make a little floating platform and some arrow switches.

Step on the right switches to move the platform up to where the droids are being held so Luke can jump onto the platform and save his buddies, then the droids can unlock the door. We’re getting closer and closer to saving Han!
By the way, I love how the floor is textured to really look like sand brushing on it.

But you need to watch out here – the white floor grates will collapse under your weight if you step on them, sending you down into the void . . . or the sand. Either way, DON’T STEP ON THEM!

And ho boy, another big room to get through. You’ve got to push these big things up to the raised platform and use the Force to make a ramp.

Use the Force some more to make a bridge, then have R2 fly over to extend another bridge – where you’ll also find one of those inaccessible-for-now minikits (you need the DARK SIDE to get it - hey Luke, are you sure you won't turn?)

Well, at least we should be able to save Han soon, right? Well, you’ve gotta go down the stairs and through another room that doesn’t have much special stuff except for another bounty hunter mask dispenser, but then in the next room . . . HAN!!!!!!!!

Oh, there’s also a curtain – I wonder what could be behind that? Ah, probably nothing important, but before rescuing Han (hey, he’s been frozen for months – he can stay frozen for a few more minutes), pull the levers to block the Gamorrians, shoot everything for studs (of course), and use the stormtrooper helmet dispenser to get a minikit!

Okay, I think we can wake Han up now. Get Leia a new bounty hunter mask from the previous room and she can thaw out the man she loves.

Gotta say, the cutscene that follows of Leia unfreezing Han and then kissing him is super-sweet, but . . . uh-oh, it was Jabba behind the curtain, and he wastes no time sending everyone into the rancor pit. Yes, unlike in the movie, Luke, Han, Chewie, R2, and 3PO are ALL fed to the rancor!

But we’re not about to become lunch, are we? To defeat the rancor, have 3PO or R2 activate the panels that will send a Gamorrian out of the chute. The Gamorrian will make a NOBLE sacrifice when the rancor eats him instead of us, and while the rancor’s distracted by his snack, shoot the box next to him to make rocks fall on him. Repeat this on the other side of the pit, but for the last hit, you’ve got to lure him over to the open gate. If you remember how the rancor gets killed in the movie, you know exactly what to do – pull the levers to make the gate come crashing down on the rancor!
Of course, Jabba doesn’t let that stop him. All the males in your group instantly get captured and Leia . . . well, you know what outfit SHE gets put in.
Level over and we’ve unlocked Luke in his Jedi garb, Leia in her Bossh disguise, and Han in his plain white shirt. At the bar, we can now buy a Gamorrian guard . . .

. . . Bib Fortuna . . .

. . . Jabba’s palace guard . . .

. . . and Bossk.

The Power Brick also unlocked Super Zappers, which make droid zappers stronger.

Well, I’ll see you for Part 2 of the escape from Jabba.
