It’s here. My Nintendo Switch copy of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has arrived.

And since I preordered it (over a year ago), it came with a little bonus – a free Lego set of Poe’s X-Wing. Pretty cool.

Well, now my motivation to catch up with this blog is up, so let’s continue Clone Wars.

I actually forgot that there was another episode between the previous episode and “Brain Invaders” – we’re doing the “Legacy of Terror” episode now, which was the episode where the Jedi discovered the mind-controlling parasites. The level starts with a cutscene of Luminara going underground in search of Poggle the Lesser and getting capture, so Obi-Wan, Anakin, and the clones have to set out to rescue her.
And what’s this – NO bases to capture? Seriously? OMG, this looks like an actual Lego Star Wars level. Let’s just hope it lasts.

We’ve got to get inside the tunnel, which involves repairing the scary lock. On one side, there are these brightly-colored Lego bricks that look out of place, so they’re probably important.

Turns out they are – you can use the Force on them to make stairs.

Then have Cody or one of the other clones climb the stairs and use his blaster to pull down the column and make debris fall over, which a Jedi can use to fix part of the lock.

By the way, when the clones stand idle, they’ll briefly take their helmets off for air.

Anyway, on the other side, have Cody summon the other clones to shoot at the gold wall. Fortunately, you’re in a smaller space than in the last level, so there shouldn’t be too much trouble getting the clones to follow you.

Once the wall’s down, Anakin or Obi-Wan can wall-jump to the top and push this statue of a Genonosian down for more debris, which can be used to fully fix the lock and open the door to the scary tunnel.

There won’t be any bases to capture in the scary tunnel, will there? I’m still reeling from that last level.

Oh COOL, it’s dark! Awesomely atmospheric – we’ve only got our lightsabers and helmet lights to see with. Of course, there are plenty of rocks and bones (good thing Poe’s not here) to break apart for studs, plus the clones can use their blasters to pull apart spiderwebs.
Also, sometimes these Geonosian statues will jump out at you. Not much of a booby trap, but it still comes as a surprise the first time – and you can destroy five of them for a minikit.

As you can see, you’ll eventually reach this big rock wall, but a clone can easily pull it down with his blaster because . . . they have super strength? I dunno.
Oh, and at one point you’ll run into a Geonosian statue HANGING UPSIDE-DOWN BY HIS ANKLE!!

Like, what the FUCK, is that a memorial of an execution or something? Given that Geonosis hosts public event executions, that actually wouldn’t surprise me.
Eventually you’ll reach a dead end – but as we know, there’s no such thing as an actual dead end in these games.

No, just shoot the crystals in the ceiling, making studs and debris fall down, then use the Force on the debris to build a statue, which opens a passage to the lower levels.

In the lower level, you’ll run into a slew of Geonosians, but they’re acting . . . weird. Even when you cut off their heads or legs, they’ll still crawl around after you. Yeah, these are parasite-infected Geonosians and they make really creepy sounds as they go after you, though it’s also pretty funny how when you first cut off their heads, they touch their necks as if realizing that their heads are gone.

In order to progress, you need to yank down debris to block the opening on one side and push a pillar to block the opening on the other side, which will knock down the rocks blocking your way. Continue down the creepy tunnel, breaking stuff for studs and fighting off the zombie-Geonosians.
After a while, you’ll run into THE HIVE QUEEN!

She’s got Luminara and she’s about to infect her with the parasite – AND she has her infected Geonosians take Anakin and Obi-Wan’s lightsabers!
Well, we may be lightsaber-less, but we still have the Force. Use the Force to knock over the column next to the Hive Queen and that’ll make her MAD – mad enough to start shooting rocks at you . . . out of her tail. Yeah, probably the less said about that the better, but dodge the rocks and she’ll eventually shoot out a purple rock, which you can use the Force on to make a stair. Do this three times and you can get to the top of the rock where the zombie Geonosians have your lightsabers.

Little problem there, though – the zombie Geonosians have LIGHTSABERS. Don’t even try to get them back when using a clone – just touching the lightsabers will lose you hearts. Instead, have Anakin jump up there and punch one of the infected Geonosians to get his lightsaber back, then do the same with Obi-Wan. Once you’ve got your lightsabers back, you can slight through the rock next to you to reveal another column, which you can use the Force to topple.
This pisses off the Hive Queen even more and she starts flinging EXPLOSIVES at you – I guess she really likes those columns. However, it turns out you can use those explosives to your advantage – push them towards the silver wall and then get out of the way before they blow up and bit by bit they’ll make the wall collapse. Now you’re free to wall-jump to the top and strip another column of its rock coating, then use the Force to topple that column.

This time, the falling rocks will create a platform you can jump on to rescue Luminara! Yay!
BUT . . . the level’s not over. Even though Cody slings Poggle the Lesser over his shoulder, the Hive Queen is NOT happy. In fact, she’s so not happy that she sends HUNDREDS of infected Geonosians after us!
I couldn’t take screenshots of this part without dying, but you basically have to run as fast as you can and if the infected Geonosians catch up with you, you’re dead and you have to start this part over. Ho boy, this is short, but it’s an adrenaline rush. Once you get out of the tunnel, a cutscene plays of Luminara grabbing Cody’s blaster and using it to cause a rockslide that traps the infected Geonosians, ending the level.
And what do you know, this level actually DELIVERED. It captured that sense of fun and exploration that the previous Lego Star Wars games excelled in (and NO BASE CAPTURING!). Maybe the rest of the game will do so too? We’ll find out.
Anyway, this level also ended the Dooku “story,” though there wasn’t any real story since the only thing these episodes had in common was being loosely connected to Dooku. A final cutscene plays of Poggle the Lesser being arrested and Dooku being pissed off. Next time, we’ll start . . . hmmm, Ventress or Grievous? I’ll get back to you on that, probably tomorrow since I want to play The Skywalker Saga before too long.
